A single-chamber empty AIO is the simpler choice when one oil and one set of test records can answer the buyer's question. A dual-chamber device is useful when testing two oils or two versions in one body matters enough to justify separate fill records and separate observations for each side. Begin with the decision the buyer needs to make; chamber count comes later.
An empty AIO is an all-in-one device that combines the reservoir, heater, and battery but is supplied without oil. The reservoir is the chamber that holds the oil. Moving from one reservoir to two changes more than the shape of the hardware: it changes what must be filled, labeled, selected, and recorded.
Single Chamber vs Dual Chamber Disposable Vape: What Actually Changes?
In this comparison, a single chamber means one fill in each device. The sample record can follow one oil, one reservoir, and one set of observations. That makes it easier to answer a narrow first question, such as whether a specific oil and filling process are suitable for further testing in that hardware.
With a dual-chamber device, the buyer is managing two fills inside one body. Layouts and controls differ, so confirm the chamber arrangement and selections in the supplier instructions. The extra chamber is useful only if the buyer has a reason to keep two samples separate, switch between them, or observe a product-specific combined mode.
This is why the comparison should not begin with capacity, novelty, or the number of available modes. Begin with a sentence: “This sample needs to tell us whether…” If the sentence names one oil and one condition, one chamber may be enough. If it names two oils or two versions that must be observed separately in the same device, two chambers may be useful.
Write the Sample Question Before Choosing the Hardware
A sample should answer a limited question. Trying to learn everything at once usually creates a record that is difficult to interpret.
Suppose a team wants to screen one oil in a new AIO shape. The record for a single-chamber setup stays direct: one oil, one fill record, and one observation set per unit. The team can still test several units, but it does not need to explain which side was filled or selected.
Now suppose the team needs to compare two oil versions in the same body. A dual-chamber sample can keep one version on the left and the other on the right. The record must then preserve that assignment for every unit. If the team later forgets which oil went into which side, the main reason for using two chambers has been lost.
Do not change several things and call the result a chamber comparison. If the left side receives Oil A and the right side receives Oil B, a difference between the observations may come from the oil, the side, the fill, or another changed condition. The record can show what happened; it cannot prove a single cause by itself.
How Filling Records Change
For a single-chamber sample, identify the device, model, oil, fill amount, closing method, test condition, result, and next action. Keep only the details that help answer the sample question.
For a dual-chamber sample, identify each side clearly. Keep the left and right reservoir details separate, even when the same oil is used in both. “Same device” does not mean “same fill.”
GreenDeagle's Lumen provides a product-specific example. Its current page describes two independent 1.0mL reservoirs separated by a flat divider wall and instructs the buyer to fill the left and right reservoirs separately.[1] That statement applies to Lumen; another dual-chamber model may use a different layout or filling method.
The record should make the assignment easy to read. “Left — Oil A” and “Right — Oil B” is clearer than a note that simply lists both oils. If the fill amount, filling step, or closure timing differs between sides, write the difference beside the affected side instead of hiding it in a general comment.

How Test Observations Change
A single-chamber unit normally needs one observation set for the condition being tested. The team may repeat the test or use more than one unit, but every result still belongs to the same reservoir in that device.
A dual-chamber unit needs separate observations for each selectable side. If the model also has a combined setting, treat that as another test condition rather than an average of the two side results.
Lumen uses Left, Right, and Both selections. Its current product page tells buyers to record each side on its own and then add a distinct observation for Both mode.[1] On Lumen, Both mode activates both heaters at the same time and the two aerosol streams merge before the shared mouthpiece.[1] Those are Lumen facts, not a promise about every dual-chamber device.
Keep the wording neutral. Record what the operator selected and what was observed. Write no broad claims about compatibility, flavor, leakage, or comparative results from one observation.
Keep One Problem From Becoming Three Guesses
Separate records matter most when a result is not what the team expected. A note such as “unit had a problem” does not say which side was selected, which oil was in that side, or whether the issue appeared only in a combined setting.
For a dual-chamber unit, first record the selected side or mode. Then record the oil assigned to that chamber, the relevant fill note, when the observation occurred, and whether it repeated under the same test condition. Preserve the unit ID so the team can return to the same record when asking the supplier a question.
This does not diagnose the cause. It reduces avoidable confusion. The useful supplier question is specific: “On unit 03, the observation appeared on the right side with Oil B under this recorded condition. What product-specific information should we check next?” That is easier to answer than “Why did the dual chamber fail?”
If the team mixed the left, right, and combined observations in one paragraph, rewrite the record before drawing a conclusion. Each condition should have its own line. The record should show both differences and unchanged conditions.
When a Single Chamber Is the Clearer Sample
Choose a single chamber when the sample needs to answer one main question about one oil in one reservoir. It is also the clearer choice when the team has not yet agreed on what the second chamber would be used for.
A single chamber can reduce unnecessary work during an early screening round. There is no left/right assignment to preserve and no combined mode to separate from the individual sides. This conclusion is limited to record keeping for this specific test.
Keep the first round narrow when oil is limited, the filling process is still being organized, or the team cannot yet keep two fills and their observations separate. A clean answer to one question is more useful than a complicated test that leaves several possible explanations.
When to Choose Dual Chamber Empty AIO Hardware
Consider a dual-chamber sample when the second chamber has a defined job before filling begins. Examples include observing two oils separately in one body or comparing two versions while preserving a left/right assignment.
The team should also be ready to do the added record keeping. Each chamber needs an oil or sample label, a fill note, and its own observation. Any product-specific combined setting needs another line. If those records will not be maintained, the two-chamber format may add options without adding a useful answer.
Before Ordering: Ask the Supplier These Questions
Before placing a sample order with an empty hardware supplier, ask:
- Are the two reservoirs filled separately?
- How are the left and right sides identified?
- Which selections or modes does this model provide?
- Does any combined mode activate both sides, and how should it be recorded?
- Which instructions apply to filling, closing, and testing the product being sampled?
The answer should describe the model being sampled. Do not transfer another product's fill method, mode names, or test instructions to it.

Build Sample Records With This Checklist
These sample records do not need to be elaborate. They need to preserve the differences the team intends to compare.

For a single-chamber test, keep each test condition separate. For a dual-chamber test, keep the left and right observations separate. Observe a combined setting separately only when it appears in the applicable instructions.
Review the sheet before filling. If two people could read it and assign the same oil to the same chamber without asking for an explanation, the labeling is probably clear enough for the sample round. If not, fix the record first.
